What is breast self-examination?
Breast self-examination is a technique based on the woman’s own observation and palpation of her breasts. It is used to detect the appearance of any alteration in the shape or size of the breast. If you discover any sign after performing the following technique, go to a breast specialist (Mastologist).
Technique:
Completely undressed from the waist up
Palpation:
To palpate, imagine that your breast is divided into four parts that meet at the nipple. With the flat of your hand and fingers extended (index, middle, and ring) press slightly your breast inwards, exploring each of the four parts, as explained below:
At the end of the examination, do the same to the other breast, using the opposite hand.
Early detection plan
Remember:
Go to the Mastologist as soon as possible if you notice any of these signs:
Last tip:
Being a woman is the main risk factor for breast cancer, so you should monitor your body regularly, without fear. Try not to be overweight, exercise regularly, and avoid eating fat in excess. Keep a positive attitude and eliminate toxins such as alcohol and tobacco to be free of this disease.
If you want to prevent, come to the area of Mastology.
