How to prevent this type of deafness in young people?
Headphones that are used to listen to cell phones and digital playback devices may cause hearing loss when heard at a very high volume. This is easily tested. When we remove this accessory and place it about 30 cm from our body, we should not hear anything; on the contrary, we may be damaging our hearing. The exposure time is also important. We must not exceed 30 minutes a day with cell phones; and 2 hours, with other devices
The damage is slow but progressive, and young people between 16 and 30 years old are the most affected. If they do not acquire the habit of using such devices with an adequate volume in about 20 years they run the risk of using hearing aids to listen correctly. Here lies the importance of children, youth and adults becoming aware that loud sounds can be detrimental to their health
