“The number of dengue cases is growing in several regions nationwide. However, it is necessary to educate the population and make them aware that dengue, although it can be fatal, being a virus, is self-limited by our body’s defenses in approximately 5 to 7 days“, said Dr. Julio Cachay, internist, and Specialist in infectious diseases of our clinic, who provides us with valuable information on the subject.
How is Dengue spread?
The dengue virus is transmitted through the bite of an Aedes aegypti mosquito, which becomes infected after biting a person who is in a feverish state. This infected mosquito then transmits dengue to another person.
