How is Dengue spread?

The dengue virus is transmitted through the bite of an Aedes aegypti mosquito, which becomes infected after biting a person who is in a feverish state. This infected mosquito then transmits dengue to another person.

What are the most common symptoms?

• Fever, which may be accompanied by facial flushing
• Headache
• Eye pain
• Generalized muscle and joint pain

How is it treated?

• Rest
• Drink plenty of fluids. At least 2 liters per day
• Fever and pain management can be controlled with paracetamol, as indicated by your specialist.
• It is absolutely contraindicated to use anti-inflammatory drugs, corticoids, or antibiotics if other infections have not been ruled out.

How to prevent Dengue virus infection?

• Wash and brush tanks and pools every 8 days to remove mosquito eggs adhering to the walls.
• Change water in animal water troughs and flower vases frequently.
• Cover containers that hold water
• Properly dispose of accumulated garbage in yards and vacant areas.
• Dispose of tires or ensure their storage in enclosed areas
