During summer season, heat produces some changes in children appetite, because most of them prefer drinking than eating. In that situation, we must have some precautions with our children food
So, when the temperatures are high, the nutritionist Karyn Reyna, at Clinica Ricardo Palma, gives at wapa.pe some advice so the little ones at home won’t get sick and will enjoy summer
We now give you an easy guide of children food to adapt the food to this time of the year and to enjoy delicious fresh and light dishes, and prepare them in a healthy way. Take notes!
It is important to determine fixed schedules to form a habit in children. “Babies feeding from 0 – 12 is essential, breastfeed on demand, so to keep them hydrated and include fresh fruit that is in season between meals”, explains the specialist
Also, children from 1 – 6 years old must drink around 6 glasses of water. “For children who play sports in summer, it is necessary to eat 3 -4 fruits per day, with 2 portions of vegetables, 2 portions of proteins, the protein amount will depend on the children age, height and physical activity intensity”, mentions the specialist
During summer we must avoid giving the children ultra-processed food (canned drinks, carbonated drinks, chocolates with high fat amounts, stuffed cookies, fried food)
