Menstruation can be a key piece to indicate an important condition on the health of women. Although it is important to pay attention to the volume to rule out the presence of fibroids, there is another factor that is often overlooked: the color of menstruation. On this occasion, Dr. Jaime Seminario, a gynecologist at Clinica Ricardo Palma, explains that the color tends to vary according to the volume of the bleeding and provides us with information on how it could give us any warning sign.
Menstrual Flow Color Guide
It is important to remember that the volume of a menstruation is usually around 40 cc. On the other hand, if it has a volume of 100 cc, it can cause anemia and is generally caused by fibroids or disorders due to hormonal changes both at the beginning of menstruation and in perimenopause.
Our leading specialist recommends going to the doctor for a comprehensive evaluation if one of the aforementioned cases occurs, in addition to keeping track of the period to know how our body is working.
