Clinica Ricardo Palma marks a new milestone in Peruvian medicine by obtaining certification as an Advanced Center for the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, granted by the World Stroke Organization (WSO) and the Ibero-American Society for Cerebrovascular Disease (SIECV). It thus becomes the first and only Peruvian institution to achieve the “Advanced Stroke Center” standard, which reflects the quality of its stroke services and treatments, comparable to the best clinics and hospitals worldwide.
“This distinction fills us with pride, as we are the first institution in Peru to receive this certification. This guarantees our patients the security of being treated by a team of professionals highly trained in the fast and effective management of cerebrovascular diseases, known as strokes, ictus or cerebral infarctions. This allows us to contribute significantly to the reduction of sequelae and the associated mortality rate, consolidating us as a reference in the immediate care of these cases”.
Dr. Manuel Moquillaza, Interventional Neurologist and Coordinator of our Neurology Service.
This accreditation is based on an exhaustive evaluation of medical care standards, which include more than 30 criteria such as: diagnostic and therapeutic capacity, the use of high-end equipment at the service of the Ictus code, staff trained in intensive care for hospitalized patients with cerebrovascular disease, and the implementation of a solid rehabilitation program, among others. In addition, comprehensive care is evaluated by means of digital imaging, from the patient’s emergency admission to medical discharge.
“Our treatment flows are highly efficient: each doctor and nurse know his or her role and act with precision and speed. We know that, in this pathology, time is brain, and that is why it is essential that patients go to centers with specialized and accredited units for the treatment of cerebrovascular disease. This level of coordination, based on flowcharts used in Europe and the most prestigious advanced centers in the world, has been key to obtaining this important recognition. We proudly dedicate this achievement to all our patients, especially those who have survived a stroke; they are the real heroes.”
Dr. Marla Gallo, specialist in Interventional Neurology and Coordinator of the Stroke Unit of our clinic.
“This recognition marks a before and after in the care of cerebrovascular diseases in Peru and reaffirms Clínica Ricardo Palma’s commitment to excellence in medical care and attention to the most complex processes and diseases. Our clinic offers specialized and rapid care 24 hours a day to effectively treat strokes, which are a group of diseases of very high prevalence, with high mortality and high rates of sequelae. To improve outcomes, the most critical is the time between the onset of symptoms and the initiation of the correct treatment; therefore, choosing the right center to go to is critical. Thanks to our highly trained and committed team of professionals and our fully optimized processes, we make a difference in the lives of our patients.
