“Atlas de la Mastología Peruana” is the book by Dr. Mauricio León, renowned mastologist and head of the Mastology Unit of our institution. With the collaboration of multidisciplinary specialists, in its 196 pages, this work addresses fundamental issues from anatomical generalities to benign and malignant pathology of the breast and is complemented with key aspects of the surgical treatment of breast cancer and the complementary treatment of breast neoplasia.

Dr. Mauricio León Rivera is a renowned surgeon and oncologist, both nationally and internationally. For more than two decades, he has dedicated his career to studying and researching the development of specialized and comprehensive approaches to combat breast cancer.

“Atlas de Mastología Peruana” is a valuable proposal for medical and surgical oncologists, addressing breast pathology with visual content in a scientific manner. It offers detailed illustrations, mammograms, and microphotographs collected from the professional life of more than 40 years of 2 renowned Peruvian breast health specialists, Dr. Mauricio Leon and his father, Dr. Luis Leon Atoche, as well as leading specialists in medical oncology, radiology, and pathology in Peru.

The publication highlights surgical and complementary treatments, including the first TRAM flap for breast reconstruction in our country. In addition, the atlas highlights the evolution of the specialty and promotes, above all, prevention, as evidenced by the “Mauchis” Platform, a free artificial intelligence (AI) initiative. Finally, it recognizes those who contribute to the prevention and treatment of breast cancer, the leading cause of death in women worldwide.

This valuable text will also be presented in the interior of the country. The appointment is next Friday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Huancayo campus of the Universidad Continental. Admission is free.

On March 13, at 7:00 p.m., it will also be presented at the Convention Center of the Peruvian Medical Association (Av. 28 de Julio 776, 5th floor – Miraflores).
