“Asperger syndrome is a spectrum of mild autism, which is a neurobiological condition. It can be diagnosed at school age, as early as 5 years old, unlike other types of autism that can manifest symptoms at an early age. Some traits that define a child with Asperger’s:

• They have difficulties in establishing social relationships.

Recommendations for parents if their child is diagnosed with Asperger’s:   

• Do not think about what your child lacks. As parents, you must understand your child’s condition, because it is one that needs to be worked on and integrated emotionally so that they can understand social relationships.
• Help them with their social integration. Understand that if at certain times the child does not want to participate or interact, it is totally valid.
• Encourage their abilities. It is important to encourage your child’s interests because that could be a way of life in the future, as they are extremely effective when they set their mind to something.
