Without electronics and distractions, you can build deep emotional connections and address issues that probably wouldn’t be addressed in a routine day when everyone has their own responsibilities.

These spaces are key because they promote open and honest communication among family members, where the shame of being judged or graded is set aside, there is no fear of feeling vulnerable, and mutual support is practiced. In addition, these moments provide the opportunity to model positive values, skills and behaviors for children, laying the foundation for healthy and positive relationships in the future.

What to do to spend quality time with your children and as a couple?

• Set aside a night of board or card games on the calendar for everyone in the family.
• Cook a new recipe with them. This way, they will practice their cooking skills and enjoy the result together.
• Set up an outdoor activity day where you go for a walk, bike ride or picnic together.
