The application of anesthesia in pediatric dental procedures has seen significant advances with the introduction of digital anesthesia. This innovative approach has not only transformed the experience for children but has also provided dentists with a more precise and less invasive tool. Dr. Claudia Paredes, a pediatric dentist at our clinic, gives us more details about this technology and its benefits in the dental care of our children.
What is digital anesthesia?
It consists of the digitally controlled administration of local anesthesia in the mouth by means of equipment that calibrates the speed of the injection. This allows the anesthesia to be administered slowly, without pressure, thus reducing pain and discomfort.
When can it be used and in which patients?
Digital anesthesia can be used in both cooperative and non-cooperative patients. Its use has been shown to decrease anxiety in anxious or uncooperative patients, turning dental procedures requiring anesthetic injection into less stressful moments for the little ones.
