At PlanSalud of Clinica Ricardo Palma we have exclusive benefits for our members, offering them the best coverage in medical care, emergencies and hospitalization. Among these is the maternity benefit, in which we offer the best service and experience, with a floor designed, implemented and enabled exclusively for the mother and her baby; in addition to several services such as pre- and post-natal consultations, subject to a fixed deductible of 60 soles plus a 10% copayment. These consultations are essential to monitor and ensure the correct development of the pregnancy. On this occasion, Dr. Augusto Cam, gynecologist at our institution, provides us with more information about the importance of prenatal controls
What are prenatal checkups?
They are face-to-face or virtual consultations, which are characterized by being warm, frequent, comprehensive, empathetic, informative, among other characteristics; where the complete clinical record of the patient, comprehensive physical examination and some laboratory tests are performed depending on their control.
Why is it so important to attend them?
It is very important, since having a good prenatal control considerably reduces perinatal maternal morbidity and mortality. Similarly, some diseases that carry dangers for both the mother and the fetus can be detected early.
When should prenatal care visits start?
Ideally, it should begin in the first trimester of pregnancy
Is there a set number of check-ups that must be attended before the baby is born?
The Ministry of Health determines a minimum of six prenatal check-ups, four of them face-to-face and two virtual. However, this number may change if the patient has any comorbidity.
Remember that with PlanSalud, coverage for normal, multiple or c-section delivery (including complications in pregnancy) is subject to a 12-month grace period and a fixed deductible equivalent to one day in a single room (600 soles plus a copayment of 10 %).
In addition, you can enroll your baby from birth ensuring his/her care from day one.
