With this novel alternative, overweight patients will be able to lose approximately between 10 and 15 kg (10% to 15% of their total weight)”
What is the intragastric balloon?
The intragastric balloon is a device that is placed in the stomach, in order to produce a feeling of fullness and satisfaction by ingesting less food.
In which cases is it recommended?
In patients who are overweight or mildly obese, with a BMI (Body Mass Index) is between 27 and 33.
How it works?
It is an outpatient procedure, where the patient swallows a capsule containing the balloon. Once located in the stomach, which is verified by X-ray, the capsule coating degrades and the balloon is filled with a physiological solution. The ball will remain for four months, which, together with a nutritional program, will contribute to achieving the proposed goals, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
