Patricia Giglio, Dermatologist of our clinic, recommends moisturizing the skin to avoid rosacea and other mask-related problems.
The use of masks against the pandemic in summer is not only uncomfortable but can lead to certain diseases. These diseases include the state of the largest organ of the body: our skin. Specialists say that it is due to the effect masks have on the skin and increases during summer due to sweat and sunscreen.
Our specialist affirms that masks would never have a beneficial effect since the skin always needs to be exposed.
“If you occlude the skin, the glands will work harder, including the sebaceous glands that cause acne or those that cause rosacea. Also, wearing some sunscreens under masks causes allergies”.
Dr. Giglio recommends this home remedy:
“Once you get home, take off your mask and wash your face. Put chamomile in hot water, cool at the bottom of the refrigerator. Once it is at the right temperature, apply compresses to the face.”
Also, she considers that is better to use disposable surgical masks or cloth masks so that the skin can breathe better. For example, N95 masks are effective against coronavirus, however, they obstruct the breathing of our skin causing irritation.
