As we know, Covid-19 is an infectious disease and one of the most common symptoms is breathing difficulty damaging the respiratory system by 20% or 30%. For Julio Cachay, Internist at Clínica Ricardo Palma, people who suffer from previous respiratory conditions such as asthma are the most affected, as they would be in the risk group.
“The most important is to take general measures to avoid the contagion and continue with the maintenance treatment or medications to have asthma well controlled. Doing it irregularly or not taking them because they feel well can cause that the inflammation of the bronchi starts to get out of control without realizing it”, he said.
Also, the Specialist stressed that “patients who require corticosteroids should continue the treatment, just as patients who are under biological treatments”, and the use of nebulizers should be avoided during asthma exacerbations.
