Recommendations
In these circumstances, hygiene measures must be extreme: do not touch your eyes with dirty hands, do not share towels to avoid infections, use swimming goggles or sunglasses with UV filters that cover the whole eye. People who wear contact lenses are at higher risk for eye infections in the sea or swimming pools.
Immediate care
Stop using lenses while bathing. Immediately go to the Ophthalmologist for proper treatment. People who do not receive timely attention may develop symptoms of keratitis (inflammation and infection of the cornea) or corneal ulcers which can complicate your eye health.
Symptoms
The most frequent are: red eyes, stinging, tearing, foreign body sensation, and hypersensitivity to light.
