Pregnancy is a stage full of mixed feelings and great changes in the body such as weight gain, mood variations and radical changes in the skin. Some women may not have any problem with these changes. However, depending on the body, others may experience skin imperfections
Prevention is better than cure. Therefore, it is important to take certain measures for skin care in this stage, considering that self-medication can harm the baby’s health. It is best to have a healthy diet and always be under the care of your doctor
Stretch marks
it is a skin atrophy that is more common during pregnancy, due to sudden weight gain. The first symptom is itching, and scratch should be avoided so as not to damage the skin. Dr. Campos argues that it is ideal to “drink two liters of water every day, have a balanced diet including vegetables and fruits, and go for a walk as it benefits circulation.” In addition, Dr. Bobbio mentions that “it is very important to put on moisturizers and oils to prevent the skin from drying out. The right times are in the morning after bathing, and at night, before bedtime”
Acne
in this case, it is recommended not to take pills because everything we consume affects the baby. What must be done to overcome this condition is to use creams and soaps without detergents, which do not alter the pH of the skin. Neutral soaps are the most advisable. Dr. Campos suggests adequate hydration with creams compatible with pregnancy
Chloasma
70% of pregnant women develop this imperfection. Melasma or chloasma gravidarum are brown spots that appear during pregnancy due to two factors: sun exposure, which affects areas such as cheeks, forehead, nose and chin; and the hormonal factor. To prevent them, Dr. Bobbio indicates to “use sunscreen because is important to protect the complexion, considering that sometimes, no matter how much protectors are used, spots may appear due to a genetic factor, disappearing after delivery”
Cellulite
is the inflammation of the cell tissue mainly due to the fact of not eating healthy. Being pregnant does not mean overeating and eat high-fat foods. Dr. Bobbio recommends that pregnant woman be massaged from the feet to the thighs to help blood circulation, as well as make circular movements with the ankles for 30 minutes daily to prevent swelling. Also, Dr. Bobbio suggests walking and not standing still for a long time, and Dr. Campos highlights the value of an adequate diet
